I arrived in Sanford airport and was quickly out as it was a domestic flight and arriving at 2am the airport was basically deserted. I called Alix and he was at his sister’s place so would be about 30 minutes before turning up. All the other passengers had left so the airport staff wanted to lock up and go home so I stood outside and spoke to the security guy while waiting for Alix. He was a really pleasant guy although a little surprised by my plan to not carry a gun with me and strongly recommended it.
When Alix turned up he was in a much bigger car than I was expecting. Iris, his older sister, had let him borrow hers which was much bigger so easy to fit everything in. We headed over towards his sisters house but with a quick stop off at Walmart to give me my first experience of such a great place. He asked me what I wanted and being a Daily Show fan I had to get pancake wrapped sausages. They were .. not so delicious.
After crashing at his sister’s place for the night and eating we headed off to a garage to try to get his car fixed. He had had an interesting drive over from Tampa the day before as his AC was leaking coolant and he had to stop every 10 minutes to refill it. We found a garage which took a couple of hours to fix it and even gave us free pizza, the key to Alix’s heart.
We got back to his place and there was a huge pile of parcels waiting for me so it felt like Christmas. If Christmas were full of things you paid for yourself and with an angry spiky haired man in the background.
Having gotten to Alix’s place in Tampa on Thursday afternoon we relaxed, hung out and ate some delicious food before spending Friday afternoon getting my iPod fixed and packing for a weekend trip to the 8th wonder of the world, Las Vegas.
